Facing out onto the Trout Lake baseball diamond, this laneway home is a home run for our client and his family.

As all families do, this team recently evolved into a new life stage and it was time to reevaluate everyone’s needs to make the most out of the collective resources.

With a homeowner who recently became a grandfather and a daughter who recently became a mother, they made the decision to move the growing family into the majestic character home and build the newly anointed grandfather a modern pied-de-terre in the backyard.

Recognizing the increasing demands of maintaining an older home, our client sought a fresh, low-maintenance residence. Downsizing into a single-level home ensures his independence as he enters this new phase of life.

Having built his life here in Canada, this next chapter allows him to spend half of his time back home in the south of France. This laneway home serves as one of his two pied-à-terres, offering a practical solution for his bi-continental lifestyle, while the growing young family puts their roots down in the spacious single-family home, as he did many years ago.

A humble home, this laneway makes no compromises; marrying “just enough” with the inherent elegance of quality. The home features one bathroom, two bedrooms, a spacious back patio, and a handsome appointment on the lane facing the park. With minimal upgrades, it stands as a testament to refined, effortless sophistication.

This project is indeed a home run, aligning perfectly with this family’s current and future needs.
