What is a Multiplex?
Vancouver Multiplexes are a form of multi-unit residential buildings that provide an efficient, diverse, and often more affordable housing option in urban areas, aligning with the city’s goals of increasing housing density and variety. These can range from duplexes (two units), triplexes (three units), to fourplexes, up to 8 units.
Introduced to all R 1-1 in the City of Vancouver in the fall of 2023, Multiplexes are an efficient way to use our limited supply of residential land.
Multiplex development poses a unique opportunity for families to create housing security for multiple generations within a single lot. They also provide an opportunity for investors to maximise their property investment while providing much-needed housing supply.
